What do do if you’re missing singing over the long break

Here in the northern hemisphere it’s (supposedly!) summer. Most choirs are having their long break.

I’m often asked by singers what they can do if their choir is not meeting for several weeks. Here are some answers.

Help! What am I going to do with on singing over the summer break?

When I started my first community choir way back in 1997 I used to worry that if the choir closed over the summer holidays, none of the singers would come back in September! So I ran short summer courses to keep the singers happy. Over time I realised that I was simply running myself ragged (I needed a break too!), and if the singers love coming to choir, a few weeks’ break won’t make any difference. Besides which, many singers go away on holiday over the summer too.

What do YOU do?

I’d love to hear what you do as a singer over the long break. Do drop by and leave a comment.
