Protecting you choir brand: monitoring photos, videos and recordings

Every choir has a reputation to maintain. Your choir and its name are essentially your 'brand' and, as such, need protecting.

When anyone shares an unauthorised photo, video or audio recording in public, it has the potential to damage your brand.

It's great to share images and recordings of your choir performances. But what if a ropey, out of tune, "we were having a bad day", early rehearsal version gets released to the public? Is that the kind of example that you want to represent your choir's work?

It's best if you have some kind of recording policy that's clear to your members and their friends and family who might be in the audience.

You can simply ask for any recordings that members make be kept private, or you can ban recordings entirely, or ask that the choir leader is consulted before anything is released in public, especially social media.

Other issues to consider are if the songs/arrangements are in copyright and if individuals have given permission to be recorded or photographed.
