Many of us resolve to try new things when the new year starts.
It might be to join the gym or to learn to cook. Why not try singing?
Many New Year resolution lists look something like this:
- try a new hobby
- make new friends
- become more active
- look after my mental health more
- learn to relax and de-stress
- become more involved in my local community
- learn a new language
- do more stretching and breathing
- learn a new skill
- widen my musical horizons
What if I told you there was ONE thing that covers ALL of these?
Join a local choir!
If you’ve never sung before, it’s an easy way to ease yourself in. You can hide in the crowd until you begin to feel more confident. Join a community choir that doesn’t hold auditions. If you can, find a choir on the Natural Voice Network website then you can be sure you’ll be welcomed with open arms.
If you used to sing regularly, but have lost the habit, now’s the time to reconnect. Most community choirs work on a termly basis and will be starting back around now. it’s never too late to get back into singing, even if the last time you did it was in primary school!
If you’ve become a little jaded with the choir you’re in, the start of the year is a great time to find another one that suits you better.
